Chile’s Academy Award winner for best foreign-language film received nine nominations for the Latin-American version of the Oscars.

Sebastian Lelio’s Oscar winner A Fantastic Woman is now a favorite for the Platino Awards — the Ibero-American version of the Oscars — with nine nominations, including for best film, director, and actress for transgender star Daniela Vega.

The announcement was made Tuesday at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel by actors Martha Higareda (Altered Carbon), Adrián Lastra (Velvet Collection), Jackie Cruz (Orange Is the New Black) and Oscar presenter and Mexican star Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included). Derbez will host the gala ceremony at the Gran Tlachco Theater in Xcaret Park, an ecotourism development in the Mexican Caribbean’s Riviera Maya resort district, on April 29, after four editions held in three different countries: Panama, Spain and Uruguay.

Other Platino nominees include Lucrecia Martel’s Zama (Argentina), Fernando Pérez’s Last Days in Havana (Cuba), Isabel Coixet’s The Bookshop (Spain), Sebastian Mitre’s The Summit (Argentina), and Carla Simon’s Summer 1993 (Spain).

Apart from the 14 film categories, the Platinos this year will also honor television in three categories: best show, actor and actress.

The Platino Awards are promoted by audiovisual copyright management EGEDA and FIPCA, the Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers, with the support of film academies from 23 Spanish-speaking countries (plus Brazil and Portugal), as well as Latin Artis and the AISGE Foundation.

The full list of nominees can be found on the Platino Awards website.
