WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp, in theaters now.
In the first Post-Credits in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scott Lang is on a mission within the Quantum Realm to get more quantum energy to help stabilize Ava Starr’s quantum displacement. Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne and Hope Van Dyne are back on Earth, monitoring his progress. Janet warns Scott of the dangers of time vortexes and other traps that you can fall into while in the Quantum Realm. However, Scott then gets static on his line and he is no longer in contact with anyone. As it turned out, Hank, Janet and Hope were all victims of Thanos’ elimination of half of the universe at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
Obviously, in this instance, it was 75% of the characters in the scene, but naturally if 50% of everyone on Earth is gone, some groups would have more than half taken and some would have more, like how almost all of the Guardians of the Galaxy fell victim to the “snappening.”

In the Post-Credits scene, it is noteworthy that we did not see anyone but Scott, Hank, Janet and Hope, so it is still a mystery as to what happened with Scott’s friends, Ava, Bill Foster and Scott’s family.
In an interview with the Huffington Post, Peyton Reed explained how the filmmakers chose who we saw die in the Post-Credits scene.
How’d you decide Hope, Hank and Janet would disappear in the after-credit scene and who would be present?
A big part of it was deciding who was going to be in that scene to begin with, because there was a version of that scene I think where it’s like, “OK, maybe Bill Foster is here as well, maybe Ava Starr is here as well.” We talked about versions with ― and maybe Luis, or whoever, it could’ve been anybody ― but then there’s a certain percentage issue that’s set up obviously in “Infinity War” that we couldn’t ignore. When we finally landed on the version that you saw, the final version in the movie, it just seemed right.

It is unclear whether we will find out whether other Ant-Man and the Wasp cast members lived or died in Avengers 4. We will find out one way or the other next spring when the conclusion to the Avengers fight with Thanos is released.
