The ‘Incredibles 2’ director will also present the film for its European premiere.
Oscar-winning director Brad Bird will receive a career honor at the Annecy Animation Festival, taking home a special Cristal Award.
Bird will be celebrated by the festival for his contribution to animated film and the cultural imprint of The Iron Giant, as well as his revolutionary work with Pixar, including his two Oscars for The Incredibles in 2004 and Ratatouille in 2008.
The award follows his Art Directors’ Guild honor in February.
Bird will also be on hand to present the European premiere of the Incredibles 2 on June 15, the same day it is set to open in the U.S.
He follows Grave of the Fireflies director Isao Takahata and Ernest & Celestine director Didier Brunner in receiving the honor.
Annecy’s full competition and speakers lineup will be unveiled April 23.
This year’s Annecy Animation Festival is set to run June 11-16.
