Dumbledore Has A Plan in New Fantastic Beasts 2 Trailer

Movies

Warner Bros. has released arguably the best trailer yet for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which brings fans of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world back to Hogwarts, thrusts Dumbledore into a more central role, and introduces News Scamander’s brother Theseus.

The sequel to the hit 2016 Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them finds dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) escaped from custody, and setting a plot into motion for pure-blood wizards to rule over, well, everyone else. To foil Grindelwald’s scheme, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former Hogwarts student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne, reprising his role), who may not be fully aware of the dangers he faces.

“You want me to hunt him down, to kill him,” Newt says in the new footage. “Dumbledore, why can’t you go?”

“I cannot move against Grindelwald,” Dumbledore replies, hinting not only at their childhood friendship, but also, as revealed by Rowling, their romance. “It has to be you.”

Directed by David Yates from a script by Rowling, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, Poppy Corby-Tuech and Johnny Depp. The film opens Nov. 16.
