Ghosted Officially Cancelled On Fox, Will Not Return For Season 2

Fox initially looked to have comedy gold in its grasp when it secured actors Adam Scott and Craig Robinson for its paranormal comedy series Ghosted, but that feeling quickly faded after the show's premiere. Reviews of the show were mixed from the very start, and while some fans of the series had been optimistic for more episodes, the comedy's future on the network had been uncertain for months. Now, Fox has officially cancelled Ghosted and confirmed the series will not return for Season 2 on the network.

The cancellation of Ghosted was expected, as reports from a month back claimed Fox wasn't planning to bring the show back for Season 2. EW reported Fox initially had hopes for the series and ordered six more episodes back in November, but eventually decided to take Ghosted off the air and have it retooled for audiences. The show finally returned to the airwaves in early June to air its final reworked episodes of the season, although it sounds now as though it was too little too late. While stars of the series and frequent Twitter users Adam Scott and Ally Walker didn't have much to say regarding the news, Craig Robinson popped on the platform to deliver a vague tweet that may have been alluding to the show's cancellation:

Y’all rock!! Thank u for the love and support! Greatly appreciated and not unnoticed. Love you

— Craig Robinson (@MrCraigRobinson) June 29, 2018

Actress Amber Stevens West also took to Twitter to give the show a shoutout and thank fans for the fun but admittedly short ride. Ghosted's cancellation hasn't made many waves on social media. In fact, the show's hashtag is surprisingly devoid of reactions outside of headlines announcing the show's end. This might have something to do with the show's title being linked to the popular slang term "ghosted." It could also be evidence that the show might not have been one that television audiences cared enough about saving. The show's viewership numbers drastically reduced when the show returned from hiatus in June, which resulted in an average of almost a million fewer viewers than the comedy's least watched episode in the first half of Season 1.

Ghosted is the latest series Fox cancelled in what has been a season of unlikely renewals, although there's no indication from anyone involved in the series that the show could return in the future.
