Dany Garcia, the manager of Henry Cavill, has released a statement regarding this morning’s report of Warner Bros. deciding against the actor reprising his role as Superman in its DC Films cinematic universe.
Garcia’s statement reads: “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.”

Negotiations between Cavill and Warner Bros. reportedly broke down after the studio tried to sign Cavill to a cameo role in the upcoming Shazam!. However, sources indicated an agreement couldn’t be reached, leading to the speculation that Cavill’s time as the Man of Steel had come to an end.
Garcia’s statement would suggest the two sides are still partners in keeping Cavill a part of what has been called the DC Extended Universe, with fans expecting an official statement from Warner Bros. later today. Whether that statement confirms or shoots down the reports remains to be seen.
The 35-year-old Cavill was cast in the title role of director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the divisive 2013 that retroactively launched the DCEU, and then returned in 2016’s Batman v Superman and 2017’s Justice League, none of which earned the reception, or the blockbuster status, Warner Bros. might have envisioned. While there had been rumblings of a Man of Steel sequel, no concrete developments had ever emerged.
