Leaked Avengers 4 Photo Seems to Confirm Pepper Pott’s Superhero Identity

Avengers: Infinity War may have ended with the apparent death of many fan-favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes, but Earth’s Mightiest Heroes aren’t exactly down for the count yet. In fact, we already know that some reinforcements will be coming soon in the form of Captain Marvel. But that may not be all…

Earlier today, an apparent image from the set of Avengers 4 was leaked, revealing a first look at Pepper Potts’ new superhero identity: the armored Rescue.

The picture appears to be a selfie taken by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who can be seen wearing a fitted armor that certainly looks like it could have been designed by Tony Stark. Of course, given the fact that this picture is a leak, there is always the possibility that it is fake — however, that outcome doesn’t seem likely. By all accounts, the picture appears to be real, which means that the big screen version of Pepper is likely to follow in the footsteps of her comic book counterpart.

In the comic books, Pepper Potts first became Rescue in 2009’s Invincible Iron Man #10 by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca. The suit was designed by Stark, and it was known for being an armor designed for rescue operations only — it’s offensive and attack systems practically non-existent.

While this would mark the debut of Pepper Potts’ superhero identity on the big screen, this is actually not the first time that she has worn an Iron Man armor in the MCU. In fact, Pepper briefly suited up as the Armored Avenger before, when the Mandarin attacked Tony Stark’s Malibu mansion in Iron Man 3. Faced with devastating destruction, Tony summoned his Mark XLII armor onto Pepper to save her. In return, Pepper reciprocated the act, by piloting the suit to save Tony.

If this picture is in fact the real deal, then Avengers 4 will indeed feature the debut of Rescue. How and why would remain to be seen, but it’s possible that Pepper would suit up with her own armor in order to rescue Tony, who is currently still landlocked on the Saturn moon, Titan.
