Maisie Williams Bids Game Of Thrones Farewell After Wrapping Final Season

The end just got a lot more real, as another actor has bid farewell to Game of Thrones. Maisie Williams has joined some of her fellow cast members in officially completing her stint on the pop culture phenomenon. And the actress has commemorated this moment in her career by taking to Instagram to say her goodbyes. No, she did not reveal a new hairstyle. You can see the post for yourself below:

Given the bloody nature of Game of Thrones, the image of Maisie Williams' "bloody" tennis shoes is not all that surprising. What it means, if anything, is here for fans to speculate about. All will hopefully be revealed by the time show ends, and press interviews are done.

Then Maisie Williams can enlighten us all as to how her shoes ended up that way. Given all the secrecy the cast has had to keep about Game of Thrones' final season, the behind-the-scenes info they share about Season 8 should be incredible.

Like many members of the Game of Thrones cast, the series catapulted Maisie Williams into life as a household name. The actress' casting as Arya Stark marked her first professional role, per IMDb. And what a debut role it has been. For few actors, their first role is rarely their breakthrough. Williams was cast on Game of Thrones when she was in her early teens. Now 21, she faces a future outside of the show that has played a prominent role in her life for over half a decade.

Cast as the youngest daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark, Arya has undergone one of the most transformative character arcs on Game of Thrones. And she is also at the fore of what is probably one of the most anticipated and hoped-for moments of Season 8. For many that is Arya's reunion with the man who gave her Needle -- her long-lost brother, Jon Snow.

After all, Jon was the impetus for her return to Winterfell, after so many years spent on the road seeking revenge. Having learned from Hot Pie that her brother had won the Battle of the Bastards, restoring Winterfell to the Starks and that he was the new King in the North, she decided to head home. Unfortunately, with Jon away on White Walker-related business, the two ended up missing each other in Season 7.

So how long will Game of Thrones fans have to wait for their reunion? That is if it even happens. Remember this is Game of Thrones we are talking about. Well, we have a shorter wait than we did. With the tension high, it is nice to enjoy these months of not knowing. Until those final episodes are unveiled, we can all hold out hope for how we want it to end.

Game of Thrones will return to HBO for its eighth and final season in 2019. For new and returning television shows you can anticipate watching over the next couple months, check out CinemaBlend's guide to TV's summer premieres.
