Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp picks up the story thread of Scott Lang after he was imprisoned for helping Steve Rogers in Captain America: Civil War. The hero’s actions in the 2016 blockbuster not only affected his life but also those of Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym, who are, as a result, fugitives. However, all of that was lost in actor Michael Douglas, who confessed he’s never actually seen Civil War.
In an interview with MTV International timed to the U.K. release of Ant-Man and The Wasp, Douglas admitted he “had no idea what was going on” when he read the script. “I really screwed up, because they didn’t tell me when I started this that I should go see Captain America,” he said, “because if I saw Captain America, then I would understand what Ant-Man, Paul Rudd, had done in there, and why.”
When he questioned director Peyton Reed, Douglas was referred to the events of Civil War. “I said, ‘I didn’t see Captain America,'” the actor recalled, “and he looked at me like I had committed the greatest sin in the world.”

Douglas then promised the interviewer that, if there is a third Ant-Man movie, he would go see the third and fourth Avengers films to make sure he was caught up. When asked what he would like to see in a third Ant-Man film, Douglas replied, “I think we should do a prequel. I think we should go back 30 years before Paul Rudd was born and I’ll play Ant-Man as a young man. We can do it all [gesturing to his face] and we’ll start it fresh.”
