PlayStation Is Having A Massive Mid-Year Sale

It's the middle of July, which means that the summer slump for major video game launches is upon us. To help fill the void, Sony is offering a rather impressive sale over on the PlayStation Store, offering big discounts on everything from the PlayStation 4 and PS3 to the Vita and PlayStation VR. If you're looking for some games to tide you over until the crowded holiday window, you'll likely find something here.

There are dozens upon dozens of games up for grabs across multiple platforms in the PlayStation Store's Mid-Year Sale, so you'll definitely want to drop by the official promotion page and get to digging through the pile if you're in the market for something particular. We'll pick out a few obvious highlights here, just to give you an idea of what to expect.

For starters, the discounts are for at least 50 percent off a whole bunch of games, or at least 60 percent off if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber. Extra discounts like this are just one part of the Plus subscription plan, which also offers things like cloud storage for saves, access to online gaming and a rotating collection of free games made available on a monthly basis. Along with regular games, this promotion includes discounts on things like DLC and even game bundles. Finally, if you're using your Sony rewards card, anything you buy in this sale will earn three times the number of rewards points, or five times if you're a Plus member.

You can just start perusing the discounts willy-nilly, or you can use the helpful tabs at the top of the page if you want to jump to a desired platform. In the PS4 tab, for instance, you'll find Darksiders Warmastered Edition for two bucks, which is an insane deal. You can also grab Assassin's Creed Origins for half off, or Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Gold Edition for 67 percent off. If the recent Bethesda E3 games presentation has you jazzed, you can dive into Fallout 4 and Skyrim, both for 50 percent off. Also, if you still haven't played The Witcher 3, that game's complete package including all of the DLC can be yours for $19.99.

If you're still gaming on the PS3, you can find hits like Red Dead Redemption for 10 bucks, or Borderlands 2 for a measly $3.99. A whole bunch of original PlayStation games are also up for grabs for a deep discount, which you can also play on the PSP or Vita.

Speaking of portable gaming, several of the Danganronpa games have been marked down by at least 60 percent off, with the first Dragon Quest Builders going for $23.99. There's also a big group of Simulator games up for sale.

Over to the PSVR, one of the best virtual reality gaming experiences around, Wipeout Omega Collection, is down to 35 percent off. DOOM VFR and Skyrim VR are also half off, with Until Dawn: Rush of Blood going for 30 percent off.

Again, that's only scratching the surface here, so you'll want to check out the full list before the sale ends at 8 a.m. on July 17.
