Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment has formed a new partnership with Sony Pictures Television to form the production company Skybound Galactic.

The new venture will develop Image Comics properties for television, with four adaptations already in the works. The venture is led by Rick Jacobs (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) with Sony financing Skybound Galactic as well as holding international distribution rights to the various projects developed by the television studio.

Two of the announced projects are Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson’s acclaimed horror series Nailbiter, being adapted by Scott Kosar (Bates Motel), and Kirkman’s own comic book series Thief of Thieves, developed by Evan Endicott and Josh Stoddard (Warrior). Oz Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter) is attached to direct the Nailbiter pilot, while the Thief of Thieves pilot will be directed by Assaf Bernstein (The Debt).

Also optioned for television through Skybound Galactic are two titles from Top Cow, which has a first-look deal with the new venture. Included in the deal are television options for Matt Hawkins and Rahsan Ekedal’s high-tech crypto-thriller series Think Tank and the long-running horror series The Darkness created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl. Top Cow founder Marc Silvestri and President Matt Hawkins will serve as executive producers.

“Combining the multi-platform capabilities of Skybound and Top Cow’s extensive library of IP with the best worldwide distribution in Sony is an unbelievable opportunity,” said Skybound Galactic CEO Rick Jacobs in a written statement. “I’m looking forward to continuing Skybound’s mission to help creators expand their content into new markets.”
