The Conners are back! With the spinoff series officially getting underway, the show's Twitter page has given fans their first look at the cast getting back in action. And they are all rallied around a table in what will be a familiar setting for viewers of Roseanne: the Conner family's kitchen. Take a look for yourself below:

As you may have guessed from the photo's caption, the picture is from the first day on the set of the new series. Returning original Roseanne cast members John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sarah Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman are all pictured. Along with the new additions by way of the Roseanne revival: Jayden Rey, Ames McNamara, and Emma Kenney. The younger cast members officially signed on for the spinoff series, earlier this week.

While The Conners has been much talked about and confirmed for a while, this marks the first visual signs of life for the show. Based on the expressions of the cast, everyone seems ready to begin work on the series. Given that filming has just started, there has yet to be an official promotional still or a teaser with new footage from the series. But with the premiere roughly two months away, there is ample time for all of that to come into play.

So far, the plot of the show remains somewhat shrouded in mystery. It will likely see the family continuing to deal with their day-to-day lives. According to ABC, the show will follow Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, and D.J. as they make their way through a bevy of life's hallmark challenges. One of those challenges strongly hints at the potential exit story for Roseanne herself.

The official synopsis released upon the announcement of the show being green-lit offered no definitive answers about the fate of the Roseanne character. But it could potentially allude to it. In a recent interview, John Goodman seemed to hint at the explanation of the character's absence possibly being death. That heavily predicted outcome was potentially foreshadowed in the show's synopsis, which described the family coming to terms with "a sudden turn of events."

The synopsis goes on to say that those events cause the Conner family to face life in a way "they never have before." That's not the only bit of the synopsis that makes for theory crafting. Another part of it says that the family will have to deal with an "unexpected pregnancy." Who is having a baby? You will have to wait and see.

The Conners premieres Tuesday, October 16 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. For what's new on television this fall, check out CinemaBlend's guide to TV's fall premieres. The check out the other new shows coming to ABC alongside The Conners, you can look through the network's fall premiere schedule here.
