Spider-Man: Far From Home Casts Aladdin Actor in Mystery Role

Numan Acar has been cast in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Little is known about Acar’s role, other than the fact that his character will be named Dimitri.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed last month that Spider-Man: Far From Home will see the Wall-Crawler take a trip with his classmates to Europe as part of a summer vacation. Earlier this month, it was revealed that J.B. Smooth had joined the film in a mystery role. It is also rumored that Jake Gyllenhaal is in the running to play the film’s villain, Mysterio.

The potential addition of Mysterio adds fuel to the speculative fires when it comes to the identity of Acar’s character. While “Dimitri” isn’t a whole lot to go off, there is at least one notable Spider-Man villain who bears the name — Dmitri Smerdyakov, the Chameleon. First introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 1963, Chameleon is a master of disguise whose power set would mesh nicely with Mysterio’s. He’s also the half-brother to Kraven the Hunter, which is its own can of worms.

Acar’s Spider-Man: Far From Home role won’t be his only major big screen appearance in the near future. The actor is also slated for a role in Disney’s upcoming Aladdin live-action reboot. Acar will play Hakim, the number one underling for the film’s villain, Jafar.

Only time will tell which character Acar is really playing in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei.
