Star Wars creator George Lucas recently paid a visit to the set of Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action Star Wars: The Mandalorian series.
According Favreau’s post on Instagram, the visit took place on Favreau’s 52nd birthday, which was on Friday. The photo appears to have been taken in one of the show’s cantinas, and a bottle of Skywalker wine sits on the table in front of the two men.

Lucas’ set visit didn’t end there. Favreau later posted an image of himself with both Lucas and Star Wars Rebels co-creator Dave Filoni. It’s not clear at this time why Lucas was on set. However, Filoni is reportedly set to step behind the camera for the show’s first and fifth episodes, so production is likely starting on one of those two episodes.
Set after the Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian will “follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
Though the most well known Mandalorians are Jango and Boba Fett, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series provided more insight into the Mandalorian culture. The Clone Wars featured multiple storylines centered around the planet and its eventual siege, and Star Wars Rebels saw the planet’s rescue from the Empire thanks to Sabine of Clan Wren and Bo-Katan.

The Mandalorian will arrive on the Disney streaming service sometime in 2019.
