The pilot for the adaptation, which will air on DC’s upcoming premium streaming service sometime next year, is expected to begin principal photography in North Carolina this fall directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld) from a script written by Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman.

Abby Arcane was first created in the pages of 1973’s Swamp Thing #3 written by Len Wein and illustrated by Bernie Wrightson. Niece of the evil Anton Arcane, Abby would later cross paths with Alec Holland after his transformation into Swamp Thing and the two would fall in love and eventually marry.

With Reed portraying Abby, that leaves Anton, Matt Cable, and, of course Swamp Thing himself to be cast in the major roles for the upcoming DC series.

Executive produced by James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear, and Len Wiseman, Swamp Thing is expected to premiere on DC Universe sometime in 2019.
