Zachary Quinto to Star in AMC’s NOS4A2

Television

Zachary Quinto has long had a soft spot for small-screen villainy, having played a psychopathic supervillain, a psychiatrist with a murderous alter ego, and a professional child slapper (don’t ask). Now, he’s about to step into the shoes of a supernatural serial kidnapper with a starring role in AMC’s NOS4A2.

He’ll play Charlie Manx, a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted Christmas village where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Quinto is joined in the adaptation of Joe Hill’s 2013 supernatural horror novel by Ashleigh Cummings (Hounds of Love) as Victoria “Vic” McQueen, who uses her unique abilities to outsmart Manx and rescue his victims, without necessarily falling prey to his influence herself.

AMC gave a 10-episode season order to NOS4A2 in April, with Jami O’Brien (Flash and Bone, The Walking Dead) serving as showrunner and executive producer.

Principal photography began earlier this week in Rhode Island, with Kari Skogland (Sons of Liberty) directing the first two episodes.

Hill’s second novel, the Bram Stoker Award-winning Horns, was adapted as a 2013 film starring Daniel Radcliffe, Max Minghella and Juno Temple. An adaptation of Locke & Key, the comic book series created by Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez, was picked up by Netflix in May.

AMC’s NOS4A2 also stars Olafur Darri Olafsson, Virginia Kull, Jahkara Smith and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
