Batman: TAS Blu-ray Box Set Expanded Due to ‘Overwhelming Demand’

Batman: The Animated Series holds a very special place in the hearts of fans, so naturally, many rejoiced when it was announced last year that the full series would be remastered and re-released as a Blu-ray box set. However, it appears Warner Bros. Home Entertainment failed to anticipate just how much fans would rejoice, as its now increased production to 70,000 units “to accommodate overwhelming demand.”

“As many fans and media have noticed, Amazon and other notable retailers were forced to suspend sales of Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition due to unprecedented demand for this beloved series,” General Manager & EVP, Television for Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Jeff Brown said. “Sales surpassed our initial run of 30,000 limited edition box sets about four weeks ago and, rather than leave so many fans wanting, we implemented new production orders to accommodate the requests for this prized collection. A significant portion of those increased numbers have already sold, and all sites are accepting orders again.”

Batman: The Animated Series ran for two seasons from 1992 to 1995, airing over 80 episodes. In its later run, the show went under the titles of The Adventures is Batman & Robin and The New Batman Adventures, with the original run ending in 1999. Celebrating its 25th anniversary last September, Batman: The Animated Series was the first show in DC’s modern animated universe (DCAU), produced by Eric Radomski and Bruce Timm. Bringing together iconic voice casts like Kevin Conroy’s Bruce Wayne/Batman and Mark Hamill’s Joker, the “Dark Deco” aesthetic mixed with three-dimension character’s resulted in B:TAS becoming one of the most beloved interpretations of the Batman character to date.

In addition to every episode, the box set also includes a series of lenticular art cards and three special edition Funko POP! collectible figures.

The Batman: The Complete Animated Series Deluxe Limited Edition box set, which retails for $112.99, goes on sale Oct. 30.
