“I’m a long-time fan of Greg’s work and the projects his company, KNB has done throughout the years,” explained McFarlane in an official statement. “Working with him once again, to re-invent the Spawn ‘look’ so it will match the supernatural theme in the movie, is going to be a fun process.”

Nicotero began his prolific career in the entertainment industry working as a make-up artist for George A. Romero’s 1985 horror classic Day of the Dead under mentor Tom Savini. Since then, Nicotero has expanded his career to include producing and directing while continuing to serve as a make-up effects supervisor on high-profile projects including 2016’s Suicide Squad. In 2005, he co-founded the make-up effects studio The KNB EFX Group with Howard Berger and Robert Kurtzman which has gone on to win numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Make-Up in 2006 for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.
